Description 

This art directive allows clients to learn self-care strategies to cope in distressed situations and learn to cope with their challenged mental health state.  Group members will learn that coping strategies and self-care techniques can be a simple task that can help them in difficult situations.  This activity will help them identify an activity that they find rewarding and enjoy doing in their everyday life.  Group members will brainstorm their favourite hobbies or something they enjoy doing by drawing their ideas with different mediums of their choice.  The Compass for Recovery Theme is Emotional Management.

Outcomes

  1. Helps Identify simple activities that can help them in distressed situations or environments.

  2. Rewires existing narratives and engages somatic + sensory experience.

  3. Allows further awareness in what makes them happy and what they can do to change their negative thoughts and behaviours.

Delivery 

  1. Brainstorm what you enjoy doing, what makes you happy and what simple task can be rewarding.

  2. Draw this object or activity with any medium of your choosing.

  3. Sharing your self-care/ coping activity to the group
